About the Producer
The Collio Goriziano in Italy’s northeast corner of Friuli-Venezia Giulia is known for small production, high quality wines; and those from the family estate of Marko and Boris Primosic are prominent here. With two centuries as grape growers and winemakers, the family focus has always been for wines with character and soul that tell their story. “Territory, people, wine: our essence can be summarized in these three words,” says Marko. Their family vineyards are planted to indigenous vines of the region (Ribolla Gialla, Friulano and Refosco) as well as to varieties imported from France more than a century ago (such as Merlot and Chardonnay).
Reviews & Notes
Sylvia Jansen
"Gialla means "yellow" in Italian; this Ribolla Galla has the bright lemon-yellow tinge. The vibrant colour leads to a vibrant nose and palate, golden apple fruit, beautiful citrus edge and a lovely stoney finish. Balanced, no oak, paired really well with a simple pasta tossed with herbs, toasted breadcrumbs, olive oil and parmesan."
Gary Hewitt
"Ribolla gialla, a northeast Italian variety, is nicely crafted in this clean low-intervention wine by historically important regional star, Primosic. Complex without being showy, round and balanced, a mix of citrus-stone fruit-apple with distinct minerality and a touch of licorice with no intrusion of oak. Huge food-pairing potential, in fact, best with food. Will age. 2018 tasted 26 May 2020."
